Originally established in 2016 as the DeSoto County Alumnae Chapter Youth Merit Scholarship, this award was created to support graduating high school seniors in DeSoto and Tate Counties as they pursue higher education.
In November 2025, the scholarship was formerly named "Tee Ball" in honor of the chapter’s first president, Telitha “Tee” Ball. Soror Ball serves as a dedicated administrator within DeSoto County Schools and is widely respected for her leadership, integrity, and commitment to student success.
Her distinguished career in education reflects the mission and values of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., an international organization committed to service, scholarship, and educational excellence. The Tee Ball Merit Scholarship continues this legacy by helping students manage the rising costs of college and encouraging academic achievement throughout our service area.
